While the majority of the singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at the university through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of the last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around the country: the Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; the Music Educators National Convention; the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and the ACDA Eastern Division Convention. The choir is renowned on the international stage as well, representing the US at competitions and festivals around the world. Founded in 2003 by ex-choristers of Westminster Abbey, VOCES8 first achieved success in 2005, winning first prize at the International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy. We enjoy sharing our love of singing in 4 part harmony with performances throughout the southern New Jersey area. We also attend and compete in the Sweet Adelines Region 19 convention annually. The objective was to bring about musical performances...  moreThe LAZ EKWUEME CHORALE was founded in October 1974 with a view to getting together in a small choir the best available and professionally trained singers in Lagos, the then Federal Capital of Nigeria. The objective was to bring about musical performances (of choral works by foreign and Nigerian composers) of sufficiently high standard for international consumption, within the limitations of national resources. The CHORALE which has grown in size to over 100 singers has given numerous concerts in Lagos and other towns in Nigeria, including Aba, Abakaliki, Abeokuta, Abuja, Benin, Calabar, Eket, Enugu, Ibadan, Ife, Nsit Atai, Oko, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Umuahia and Uyo. It has performed many times on Radio and Television and has featured on many State, National and International functions. It was the nucleus of the Nigerian National Choir for FESTAC 77.
