However, we also hope to raise sufficient funds to record this so that it can become more widely available, and are appealing to as many people as possible to participate in the project by giving whatever they would like, in return for a reward or perk. It's quite a good way of pre-ordering the CD ! If you feel inspired to contribute please go to: http://igg.me/at/stpeterssingers More information about St Peter's singers, including details of forthcoming concerts, recitals and services, can be found on on the Choir's website http://www.stpeters-singers.org...    less

The Games included twenty seven thousand singers from four hundred Choirs representing seventy three countries. Dozan wa Awtar, under the leadership of its Founder and Director Shireen Abu Khader, competed in two categories: Scenic Folklore and Mixed Choirs; singing Arabic songs in both and receiving a Gold Diploma in each category. This is the first time Jordan is represented in an international choral competition. On this occasion, Shireen Abu Khader expressed her immense pride at this accomplishment and international recognition and commended the continuous efforts of the singers which led to this achievement. She also thanked all those who have given both financial and moral support to the Choir, as this could not have been achieved without their help. The aim of the Horizons Project is not simply to stimulate the creation of new South African choral music; but to stimulate the creation of a new generation of South African choral composers. There are 2 projects a year, each one focusing on a different genre of choral compositions. The Choir consists of 24 hand-picked singers. By inviting specific ‘head-hunted’ singers to join the Choir and not just having open public auditions, allows us to hold an extremely high level of musicianship, technical ability and an exclusivity that makes our sound unique. The Choir is conducted and directed by Pieter Bezuidenhout   less
