The Choir was such a success and those involved enjoyed it so much that it was decided to continue.
The Choir is a training Choir with the children having opportunities to sing or speak solo lines and learn harmonies. Current members are aged between 4 and 12.
The Harmonic Minors is the Major Minors Children's Choir's extension group. This is an auditioned Choir for older children and teens.

It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. The ensemble regularly collaborates with the Des Moines Symphony and sang the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. The Drake Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on the conference program of the American Choral Directors Association North Central Division.
The ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are first-year students through seniors and who represent every College of the University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during the weekend preceding the start of the fall semester. This became the rhythmic framework of note durations (heard in various ways) throughout this work, though it collapses when the chorus sings of “catastrophic climate collapse.” The SOS pattern then returns, transformed into longer durations, calling for renewed attention and devotion to our environment.
