Its first members were students of the Club's Music School and many of them participated in the Youth Choir of the city of Heraklion, under the direction of Mrs. Katerina Tzagkaraki. The name of the EnsembLe originates from Thalitas, an ancient cretan composer and Legislator, after whom a street in Heraklion is named; in this street the first rehearsals of the EnsembLe took place. The EnsembLe's primary goal was to acquaint its members with the a cappella (“in the chapel”, without church organ accompaniment) Vocal music of the renaissance period. THALITAS began by studying and performing works of renowned composers of that era (e.g. Josquin des Prez, G. P. da PaLestrina, Orlando di Lasso) to assist the Learning process of its members' musical studies. However it does not exempt the work of works accompanied by instrumental EnsembLe, piano, etc. This group's training base is four singers, two of them music professionals, malLeabLe according to the repertoire, joining more singers if so required. Being a recent EnsembLe, it premiered in the March 2015 concert with the Lenten Concert (Solidarity Concert in favor of Maria Lara) in the Chapel of Covão do Coelho and the Church of Minde, with works by T.L de Victoria, A. Caldara, A. Scarlatti, J.S. Bach, G. Within this organisation, there are two sister groups: NOVA, the core group of singers performing to accompaniment and The Grace Notes who sing a cappella. Rehearsals are held weekly and fundraising concerts for local charities are run each year in May and December.
