The silver fleet (de Zilvervloot) was an annual convoy of ships in the 16th and 17th centuries, in which valuables from the Spanish colonies in America were shipped to Spain. In the Netherlands, the silver fleet is best known for its conquest by Piet Hein in 1628.

Our director is Linda Corcoran who also directs the current UK Champions ‘ The Great Western Chorus of Bristol’. We are actively recruiting new members and have ambitions for national and international performance. Almost all of our members are also in other choirs and 'the Feds' rehearse together only once per month on average, so it is possible to stay with your current choir and with us.

Through his diligent guidance, the group has impressed its audiences with the depth and range of its interpretive skills in performances of a Capella early music repertoire.
ESPRIT was awarded a first prize at the Peel Music Festival in April 2012, and is the proud recipient of the Hon. Barbara A. Hagerman Award for first place at the 2012 Ontario Provincial Music Festival. In August 2012, ESPRIT was awarded second place in the Canadian Nationals of the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (Class 100 - Honourable Barbara A. There has been a long tradition of Musical excellence at St Laurence’s. The original church, built in the 1880s, had a strong choir of men and boys who took part in the Festival of Britain services in 1951.
When the new church was opened in 1968, the Musical tradition continued. A new Walker organ was installed in the church, using some pipework from the old organ and Directors of Music have included David Sanger, Professor Roger Wibberley, Paul Dewhurst, Tom Fowkes, Marcus Wibberley, Iain Simcock and Andrew Ibbotson. The current Director of Music is Huw Morgan.

The lower parts are provided by volunteer adults from the local community. Young people receive an excellent Musical education, and ... less
