This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militaristic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a list of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are mistress, master, priest, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, Christians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecstatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. He fuses percussive lyrics, energetic rhythms and sometimes almost drunken modulations to capture this raucous mood.  ONE';">less

Obida in October 2001. Members enjoy the opportunity to rehearse & perform under the professional tutelage of its Choirmaster and resident arranger Novem G. Cabios. The Choir has already competed in two World Choir Games, ONE in China in 2006 and the other in Austria in 208, where it won bronze & silver medals in the male Chamber Choir category. The group has traveled to Nancy, France on invitation, in ONE of France’s major choral festival, the 14th Festival International Chant de Choral held in May 2007. On tour in Europe, the Choir performed to much acclaim in France, Belgium and Austria. Prime Note participated in the 2nd California Choral Festival & Competition in June 2009 in San Luis Obispo and continues to have a series of performances in and around Southern California, which the group now calls home.  ONE';">less

THALITAS vocal ensemble was first created in 1996 as an activity of the “APOLLON” Music Club by Giorgos Kaloutsis. Its first members were students of the Club's Music School and many of them participated in the Youth Choir of the city of Heraklion, under ...  ONE';">moreONE;">THALITAS vocal ensemble was first created in 1996 as an activity of the “APOLLON” Music Club by Giorgos Kaloutsis. Its first members were students of the Club's Music School and many of them participated in the Youth Choir of the city of Heraklion, under the direction of Mrs. Katerina Tzagkaraki. The name of the ensemble originates from Thalitas, an ancient cretan composer and legislator, after whom a street in Heraklion is named; in this street the first rehearsals of the ensemble took place. The ensemble's primary goal was to acquaint its members with the a cappella (“in the chapel”, without church organ accompaniment) vocal music of the renaissance period. THALITAS began by studying and performing works of renowned composers of that era (e.g. Josquin des Prez, G. P. da Palestrina, Orlando di Lasso) to assist the learning process of its members' musical studies.
