Himig Batingaw was founded in March of 1979 by members of the Legion of Mary. In the first few years of the choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal of bells) was born. The choir is very influential in the rise and development of choral music in the parish. It has introduced new pieces for liturgical use most of which are composed or arranged for the group and has graduated noted local musicians from its ranks. In the past years, the chorale group has joined different chorale festivals and won in various competitions; namely, Himig ng Kabataan Alay Kay Don Bosco, forte Chorale Competition in De La Salle – Dasmariñas Cavite, Vivere Hotel and Resorts Annual Chorale Competition, First Grand Chorale Competition in Imus City Mall, Wikawit: Tagisan ng Korong Kabitenyo. In 2019, the group bagged 2 awards: The Noel Bazaa...    less

But not all men’s choirs are like that and Bournemouth Male Voice choir certainly isn’t. Not only is our music diverse – spanning everything from Palestrina and Poulenc to Take That and Queen – but the range of venues we sing in and the diversity of our members’ interests means that BMVC has something for everyone. Have you ever sat at home watching one of those choir programmes on TV and wished you could be a part of something like that? If you have, then the Bournemouth Male Voice choir could be for you. Please don't be put off if: . You’ve never sung in a choir before . You’re not sure if you’re good enough . You think the music is old-fashioned and boring Many people join having had no experience of singing in public. You don’t need to be able to sight-read music, either. As long as you can sing in tune and are willing to learn, then you’re al...    less

This work is suitable for a soloist or unison choir. The accompaniment is originally scored for piano, but we have rendered it with organ accompaniment. In a liturgical setting, this work is especially suitable for Baptisms and other services that feature the use of sanctified water (healing and commemorative services). Equally, it would make a reflective motet for use during the distribution of Holy Communion. Many thanks to the Swell Vox crew in this video for beautifully performing the piece: Tony Lee, Caleb Smith, andrew Flores, James Flores (organ).
