Kornelsen, The Denver Pro Chorale is comprised of thirty-six musicians based in The Denver Metropolitan area. The Denver Pro Chorale specializes in Singing diverse a cappella choral repertoire including contemporary works from around The world. The Denver Pro Chorale recently concluded its second season with its first independent concert to a sold out audience at Denver’s Church of The Ascension. Earlier this year, The Denver Pro Chorale was invited to sing at The Colorado Music Educator’s Association convention in Colorado Springs. Moving into its third season, The Denver Pro Chorale is looking forward to collaborating with The Metropolitan State University and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir in joint concerts in addition to a Christmas concert and a concert at Denver’s Church of The Ascension in The spring of 2015. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about The music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with The audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The choir works with musically trained people and singers entirely new to Singing; some read music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anThems, and lighter music such as The delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all choirs however we need more singers to keep The choir progressing. We are Therefore expanding The ways we reach out to people who might like to give Singing a try, or who would like to return to Singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move. Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized The recruiting efforts and The Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at The Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance of Handel’s Messiah. Since Then, The Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty concert programs in The SouThern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at The Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined togeTher with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of The Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of The Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs.
