Described as ‘a fine body of singers’ by John Packwood in the Bristol Evening Post, they have delighted audiences with their fresh, inspiring interpretations of choral repertory from many centuries. Members of the Choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of Music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming. In June 2010 Harmonia Sacra were invited to perform a programme of Music by early seventeenth-century English Recusant Musicians (including William Byrd, Richard Dering and Peter Philips) for a Swansea University History conference at Oystermouth. Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and Musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the Choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape. The Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian Musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis.  less

We sing a varied mix of Music from traditional ballads and songs from the West End shows, to popular numbers. We welcome new adult members with or without prior choral experience. You do need some Musical ability, but it's not essential to read Music. Rehearsals are in Wembdon, near Bridgwater, on a Tuesday evening.

Siyabonga Dlamini and Sibusiso Sithole, with the primary objective (/s) of rehearsing and performing choral Music, providing Musical services to the community when the need arises, to provide a Musical home for all interested in the greater Pretoria and Johannesburg area and to promote the standard of choral Music. Secondarily Tswelopele aims to educate its members in the singing of all types of choral Music, arrange concerts for the general public to attend, perform choral works with other Choirs and participate in various competitions and Music festivals in the community. The Choir currently consists of 48 choristers. The Choir being fairly young went to its first (TCMA) competition on October 18th 2015, winning first place in the development section. The piece was written for the 50th anniversary of the Habaneras Contest in Torrevieja, Spain. The Musical writing has nothing of a traditional habanera. The constant habanera rhythm is not present but must be felt as an internal rhythm. What I have included is the alternation of minor and major modes so typical of habaneras. All members ...  moreInitially formed as part of a school-outreach program with the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE) in Newfoundland in 2009, Afterglow developed a love of 6-part a cappella Music and began searching for new and challenging Musical experiences. All members of QVE, the singers range in disciplines from Music to Engineering to the Arts. Afterglow performs frequently throughout St. John’s, including being featured guests on CBC Radio, local television, Festival 500, as well as community concerts and fundraisers. The group writes their own arrangements and began presenting full concerts last spring. Afterglow was one of 11 groups selected world-wide to partake in the Small Vocal Ensembles component of international biennial Festival 500 in July 2011. This will include masterclasses and individual coaching sessions with Bob Chilcott and Finnish group, Rajaton. The consort specialises in bringing vibrancy to early Music, as well as breathing life into newly commissioned pieces. Originating at the University of Cambridge, the consort attracted singers from the renowned Choirs of St John's, Jesus, Trinity and King's Colleges. Now a professional vocal ensemble, Platinum Consort boasts some of the best young singers in London. They have an affinity with the Music of composer Richard Bates and recently premiered his Tenebrae Responsories. These, along with other Music inspired by the Tenebrae tradition appear on Platinum's debut album, In The Dark which is released on Resonus Classics. Platinum also runs a Boys' Choir, which aims to be one of the best of its kind in the UK.
