Although we are a Welsh male voice choir, we are able to perform music in English; French; German; Latin and even the Zulu Xhosa dialect.  

The aim of our choir is to sing together, meet new people and have fun! No one has to sing by themselves and there is no audition to join. We sing a mixture of traditional and pop Songs – something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. The cost is £2 pe...  moreThe aim of our choir is to sing together, meet new people and have fun! No one has to sing by themselves and there is no audition to join. We sing a mixture of traditional and pop Songs – something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. The cost is £2 per week and there is no membership fee. Drinks and biscuits are provided.

We give you the pleasure of enjoying fine music and knowing you are a part of a musical community - a team...  moreThe Mishawum Choral Society is a community chorus for experienced singers with a Love of choral music who wish to rehearse and sing in our concerts. We give you the pleasure of enjoying fine music and knowing you are a part of a musical community - a team that enriches the life of all of us. We currently have about 50 members. We feature a variety of music from popular to classical. Our selections are fun and challenging for singers and entertaining and rewarding for audiences. Open rehearsals for potential new members are held in September and January at the beginning of the rehearsal seasons. No formal auditions are held, but we do expect new members to be experienced in four part choral singing, and to have some ability to read along with sheet music. Students meet each week for a 60 minute class learning the fundamentals of synchronized moves and harmony while singing popular Songs. Emphasis is placed on developing good fundamental vocal skills, part-singing, sight reading, choreography, stage presence and musicianship. The Charlotte Glee Club performs at Charlotte Academy of Music as well as community events.

The piece was written for the 50th anniversary of the Habaneras Contest in Torrevieja, Spain. The musical writing has nothing of a traditional habanera. The constant habanera rhythm is not present but must be felt as an internal rhythm. What I have included is the alternation of minor and major modes so typical of habaneras.
