The Major Minors Children's Choir was formed in February 2012 by MUSICal Director Joanne Roelofs and Karen Boyce as a one off children's choir of unauditioned primary SCHOOL aged children which was part of a choral programme with the Hutt Valley Singers. ...  moreThe Major Minors Children's Choir was formed in February 2012 by MUSICal Director Joanne Roelofs and Karen Boyce as a one off children's choir of unauditioned primary SCHOOL aged children which was part of a choral programme with the Hutt Valley Singers. The choir was such a success and those involved enjoyed it so much that it was decided to continue. The Choir is a training Choir with the children having opportunities to sing or speak solo lines and learn harmonies. Current members are aged between 4 and 12. The Harmonic Minors is the Major Minors Children's Choir's extension group. This is an auditioned choir for older children and teens.  less

Our choral projects include: inclusive community choirs for people with and without disabilities, choirs specifically for adults with intellectual disabilities, and choirs for older people, with a particular focus on those with dementia and memory loss. There are now a total of ten choirs operating in the Dublin area, with more planned for 2015! The choir performs concerts each semester and also sings at Remembrance Day ceremonies, convocation ceremonies, and other events on campus and in the community. We are a volunteer, non-auditioned group open to all, but choir members are expected to regularly attend rehearsals and the semester retreat, and to practice their parts on their own time. We usually put up practice files under “Resources” (members-only access) so that you can download your part and listen to it on whatever portable MUSIC-playing device you own. No MUSICal experience is needed, but the ability to read MUSIC is an asset (if you can't read MUSIC, we'll help you learn).  less
