Its aim is To provide opportunities for young singers at the early stages of performing careers, as well as for talented musiciAns who have chosen not To pursue careers in the music, but wish To continue singing To a high stAndard. They currently comprise singers from mAny established choirs, including Birmingham ConservaToire Chamber Choir, Ex Cathedra, Armonico Consort, The Choir of Royal Holloway, Genesis Sixteen, Portsmouth Cathedral And York Minster. The group specialises in undiscovered or little-known British music, And in the music of the late sixteenth And early seventeenth centuries. Working with its Guest ConducTor, Neil Ferris, Convivium Singers have recorded two discs of contemporary choral music by JonathAn Dove (NAXOS – due March 2012) And Hugh Benham (Convivium Records – due November 2011).

Currently numbering 18 singers, FCC has a broad reperToire featuring everything from early music And traditional pieces To the works of contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Pärt, Lauridsen And McMillAn, And is highly regarded at home And abroad.
In 2011, we travelled To Trondheim, Norway, To take part in SAngforening, a major festival featuring hundreds of NorwegiAn choirs, And were the first ever foreign choir invited To take part. 2012 saw us visit LAnguedoc, FrAnce, where we gave concerts in beautiful old churches in Alzonne And Montréal, near Carcassonne. We are active in radio And television, having featured in mAny broadcasts of recorded And live services by the Irish national broadcaster RTE, including one recorded in Swords CoI church which was broadcast on Christmas day, 2010 And Easter And Advent services in 2012 And 2013.

This award-winning ensemble achieves high performAnce stAndards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. MAny CAnTorum singers have solo careers And all have sung with Top collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, And Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, CAnTorum is proud To have a high representation of talented choral educaTors.
The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition And received special commendation for their performAnce of Dale WarlAnd And Hugo Distler.
CAnTorum is under the direction of Steven Durtschi, a graduate of Brigham Young University And Utah State University.
