We also undertake occasional Cathedral visits throughout the year. As you'd expect, there's a lot of focus on the music of the English Choral Tradition, but we also explore European and American repertoire too.

The original church, built in the 1880s, had a strong choir ...  moreOur small but talented choir consists mainly of young people. All choir members receive a first-rate musical education. There has been a long tradition of musical excellence at St Laurence’s. The original church, built in the 1880s, had a strong choir of men and boys who took part in the Festival of Britain services in 1951. When the new church was opened in 1968, the musical tradition continued. A new Walker organ was installed in the church, using some pipework from the old organ and Directors of Music have included David Sanger, Professor Roger Wibberley, Paul Dewhurst, Tom Fowkes, Marcus Wibberley, Iain Simcock and Andrew Ibbotson. The current Director of Music is Huw Morgan. Girls were first admitted to the choir some ten years ago, but the choir remains unique in this part of south-east London in that it continues to use only trebles (girls and boys) on the top line. Founded in 1977, the choir has gained a well-deserved reputation for performing neglected and unfamiliar music as well as better known and popular pieces, both sacred and secular. New members are welcome and encouraged to attend three rehearsals before an informal voice appraisal.  

Based in the Weald of Kent, we are a friendly, enthusiastic and accomplished choir of around 25 mixed voices, who enjoy coming together to make music and to perform concerts at charity fund raising events throughout Kent, Sussex and also further afield. ...  moreBased in the Weald of Kent, we are a friendly, enthusiastic and accomplished choir of around 25 mixed voices, who enjoy coming together to make music and to perform concerts at charity fund raising events throughout Kent, Sussex and also further afield. As a choir, the Consort has a wide repertoire, ranging from Early Church music through to Folksongs and modern works. Each programme is different and reflects the wishes of those for whom we perform. Since the Consort’s formation it has raised, through its choral concerts, many thousands of pounds for a wide range of charities and churches. It is always glad to consider invitations from such organisations. Its services are given voluntarily, although a contribution towards its music library and other expenses is gratefully received. We would love to come and sing to you and help you raise much needed funds for your cause. In addition to singing at Fund Raising events, the Choir is available to sing at private functions, weddings, funerals and so on  less

We have a superb choral director who is getting the best out of us. The is no audition: just a love of singing. We are a mixture of very experienced to none. The choir is bilingual English and Spanish with a truly international membership. Formado por cuatro mujeres de un coro que cerró. Estamos afrontando los retos de empezar de nuevo. Tenemos un director coral magnífico que está sacando lo mejor de nosotras. No hay audición: solo amor por cantar. Somos una mezcla de personas con mucha experiencia y otras sin experiencia. El coro es bilingüe inglés y español con una membresía verdaderamente internacional.  less
