We are directed by the dynamic Scott Inglis-Kidger, a music graduate from Cambridge University and previously a countertenor in the renowned King’s College Choir. Scott selects a fabulous range of music for us to work on and we are incredibly lucky to be supported by a professional orchestra and top professional soloists. All of this, combined with the commitment and enthusiasm of our members, makes for performances which are thrilling for the audience and exhilerating for the singers. We still retain a sense of joy of singing and of friendship and celebrate all our concerts with parties at our local Battersea pub. We do not hold auditions so if you would like to come and join us you are very welcome at any time to try a rehearsal or two and then decide if you would like to join. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his composition "Northern Lights"-- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment". the other composition to which he created an improvised accompaniment was "Ubi Caritas". He also accompanied the choir on "the Ground", which includes CWU's resident faculty quartet -- the Kairos String Quartet. PG Carnivalesque" under the patronage of Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, attracted several hundred people who listened to daring performances of popular pop music hits. During the performance we heard choral arrangements of hits such as: "Dancing Queen", "Memory", "California Dreamin'" and "Maria". This time it was not Mozart or Bach, but ABBA, Queen and songs from the musical West Side Story that graced the walls of the Gdansk University of Technology in carnivalesque musical artistic creations. Jazz musicians performed along with the choir, and the musical effects were accompanied by a unique lighting arrangement, which required appropriate space and audience arrangement. the more-than-hour-long performance by the Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology, conducted by Prof. Mariusz Mróz and accompanied by musicians from the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, ended with joint singing, encores and a standing ovation.  less
