It was the official choir of the Masaryk University in Brno between 1999 and 2003. Since then it has continued as a civic association. In 2003 Štěpán Policer took up the artistic leadership of Gaudeamus, since 2007 Dáša Karasová has been leading the choir. The choir has been undoubtedly contributing to the advancement of Brno musical culture by giving concerts and appearing at benefit events annually. We make numerous cathedral visits throughout the year, but also offer occasional sung services to smaller churches without a choir. We also offer fundraising concerts for charities, building appeals, etc. and are available to hire for weddings, funerals and other occasions.

The ensemble has been in residence at The Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch since 2003. Polyhymnia's Singers are drawn from many sources, including some of the finest church choirs in New York Since 2000, director John Bradley has been creating original editions of music for the ensemble, some of it secreted in manuscript collections since the 16th century. Working in concert with libraries, liturgical historians and institutions, Polyhymnia hopes to both preserve and reintroduce choral masterworks of the Renaissance and early Baroque in ways that both entertain and elucidate. The choir is made up of 25 members from a variety of professional backgrounds, including teachers, scientists, clerics, accountants, carpenters, and engineers. The choir's repertoire consists mainly of choral works from the renaissance and 20th century, as well as contemporary pieces in Hungarian, English, Latin, Italian, French, and German. The Gesualdo Choir has earned several national and international awards, winning top ratings in Hungary as well as 2nd and 3rd place prizes at the prestigious Tonen choir competition in the Netherlands. The Choir performs 15 times each year within Hungary, and continually seeks opportunities to spread the beauty of the Hungarian choral tradition abroad.
