Op speciaal verzoek van een vaste kijker van Podium Witteman heeft de 25-jarige componist Mathilde Wantenaar dit werk geschreven. Wishful Singing gaf de première in de uitzending van 4 november 2018. Podium Witteman omarmt de wereld van de klassieke muziek, maar zoekt ook de grenzen op met andere genres zoals pop, wereldmuziek, of jazz.
