The main focus of the choir is uplifting souls through Spiritual Gospel music. The choir has been honoured with many local and national events. The choir has also had the privilege of singing in several choir festivals of other denominations. In addition to the choir singing of daily services, the choir participates in a number of events in the Church. The choir by the grace of God has released some album in the year 2014 and 2018 titled “Ever Faithful and Angels Voices” respectively. The choir consists of participants in workshop weeks, which are offered twice a year in different European countries. Overtone singing is a new vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as choir improvisations and contemporary music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical choir compositions is explored with special ear training.

After him various conductors established the ensemble as an influential South African choir: Gawie Cillié (1940 - 1954) Philip McLachlan (1955 - 1976) Johan de Villiers (1977 - 1984) Acáma Fick (1985 - 1992) Sonja van der Walt (1993 - 2002) andré van der Merwe (2003 - ) The choir comprises of students from various academic courses and generally only a few members study music. The choir, an ensemble of approximately 80 – 100 voices, has won international acclaim through performances, concert tours, and participation in prestigious festivals and competitions.
