In an effort to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest possible level, we compete each year in a national contest and we also perform our own annual Show to raise our profile in the community. Check us out on Facebook and Youtube!
We can be seen and heard throughout the year, performing for major corporations, civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, community events, and fundraisers. The Chamber Choir sings a varied repertoire of classical liturgical and secular music from the Renaissance to the present, as well as arrangements of spirituals and songs from around the world, Israeli and Jewish music, and more. The choir performs regularly in churches and concert spaces in Jerusalem and around Israel and has performed in festivals and programs in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland.
The Jerusalem Oratorio Chamber Choir is an unaffiliated choir whose membership spans the religious/secular and political divide in Israeli society. The choir accepts members without discrimination as to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, or political affiliation. The Island Consort Chamber Choir is a 20-voice community chamber choir that first appeared in concert in late April 2007. Its repertoire is varied and loosely “classical”, focusing on sacred and secular music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
We ... moreThe Island Consort Chamber Choir is a 20-voice community chamber choir that first appeared in concert in late April 2007. Its repertoire is varied and loosely “classical”, focusing on sacred and secular music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
We rehearse Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. This is an auditioned group with considerable musical and choral experience, one that aspires to a higher standard of performance. Our members include amateur and professional musicians, choir directors and music educators. Prospective members may audition from time to time as positions come open. Contact the choir if you have an interest in joining.
We perform mostly a cappella pieces, but many of our concerts include accompaniment by members of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra and organ. less

Songs and Cries of London Town by Bob Chilcott and varied choral cantata in five movements for STAB choir, upper-voice choir, piano duet, and optional percussion. The two outer movements draw their words and inspiration from boisterous cries of 17th century market vendors as once featured in 'The Cries of London' by Orlando Gibbbons. The second movement features the words of a Scottish poet, William Dunbar (c. 1460-c.1520), in which he praises the English capital, and includes the line 'London, thou art the flower of cities all'. Together, these settings evoke a surprisingly contemporary impression of London's sights, sounds, and moods, inspiring some irresistible music, by turns contemplative and unquenchably thrilling. This 'capital' cantata was written in 2001 for the Diamond Jubilee of the Barnet Choral Society, of which Chilcott is President. less
