With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this Ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This Ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities. The Ensemble consists of approximately 24-32 Vocalists selected through a voice placement process and performs traditional/advanced choral literature from all periods. Students who have been active in choral Ensembles in high school or college are encouraged to audition for this Choir. Auditions for Chorale can take place at anytime to fill necessary spots in the group. Once students are selected for Chorale, they are members until they choose to leave, are removed, or when they graduate. In addition to its regular concert schedule, the Chorale tours each spring (Orlando, ’09; NYC, ’10; Atlanta, ’11, Boston, ’12, Orlando, ’13). A yearly scholarship is offered to people who are successfully placed in the group.  less

The students in the KCKCC VJ program learn Jazz Education through a variety of methods. First of all, each of these students take private Vocal jazz coachings weekly. They also perform music by professional Vocal Ensembles, arrangements by well-known Vocal jazz educators, and learn jazz and popular music standards (both through the Ensemble and in private coachings).  less
