The Concert Theme focused on The damaging nature of gossip and The larger meaning of how words are powerful and have greater impact than we realize.
Based on a well-known Jewish folk tale, The piece is largely sung in Yiddish, featuring narrated passages in English, with The moral resolution in Hebrew.

On Saturday 28 June Kingston Choral Society (KCS) returns to St andrew’s Church, Surbiton, KT6 4DS to present Rhymes & Charms. A selection of charming songs from across five centuries which evokes green summer meadows and skies buzzing with life. There is a particular emphasis on The elusive magic of flying creatures, with bees, bats, ladybirds and crickets, featuring alongside birds of many feaThers, including swans, cuckoos, crows, owls and magpies.
Contemporary composer Kerry andrew’s Rhymes & Charms for Flyaway Things inspired The Concert’s title. The piece was commissioned by Making Music after andrew won Their prize at The 2010 British Composer Awards.
