His initial claim was also to promote new soloists a...  more the Rías Baixas Choir was presented in Vigo in January 2014 with the purpose of replacing the lack of Choral formations that could collaborate with orchestras and chamber groups in Galicia (NW Spain). His initial claim was also to promote new soloists and serve as a tool for new and established composers specially from the Rias Baixas area. the choir already has more than sixty performances, both self-managed and scheduled in various cycles or festivals such as Outono Lírico, Vigo Sinfónico, Barcia de Mera Religious Music Series, Nas Ondas, Portico Sonoro, Explurart, Cooltural Cambados and II Festival Groba. In these performances they have interpreted several fundamental works of the Choral repertoire in all kind of stages of the four Galician provinces, both a capella and with instrumental accompaniment. Together these words become the identity of the choir and mean 'new song'. At present, there are approximately 30 singers in the choir for whom music is a passionate interest – for many it is also a future profession. Many of the singers, either study or work at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences or the University of Jyväskylä. the repertoire of Cantinovum is colorful and varied. It spans from folk music to sacred music and from Renaissance to modern composers.
