May God give you long life. Literally: years and epochs of happiness to you. They are sung at feasts or supras as they are called in Georgian, where participants wish one another health and a long life. This is an urban version. This type of song is sometimes labelled Kutaisian because the town of Kutaisi (in western Georgia) is considered the centre in western urban Songs, which are based on European harmony. This concert was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all Songs are taught and learnt by ear. Usually eight Songs are learnt in six two-hour sessions and in the winter are performed at St. Peters by the Waterfront, Ipswich. http://chrisrowbury.com For the first time we were joined by the vo...    less

Some of the lowest octave passages in the Lute (Guitar) part are transposed up an octave to better match the new arrangement. The Treble and Bass Viol parts may be played by Violin and Violoncello, respectively. --- NotePerformer 4 audio and scrolling score seeking live performances. Our repertoire spans the centuries, from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. Our particular speciality is Folk music from all over the globe. Cantóirí sings each song in the original language. We are lucky as we have been able to draw on the language skills of choir members from around the world. Cantóirí perform regularly in Dublin and also enjoy taking part in Choral competitions around the country.

[this is a version of a post which first appeared on my blog From the Front of the Choir]   The simple reason is that India doesn’t have a harmony singing tradition, and I specialise in harmony singing.     Photo by willsfca ...

We're a choir of about 40 adults who enjoy singing contemporary and fun Songs in a relaxed environment. We rehearse on Monday nights above a pub in London SE22. We currently have a waiting list for Alto and Soprano parts but we're worth it!

More: www.billheigen.com Drowning Surrounded by a sea of skyscrapers The numbers are my frowning Time takes away my breath Every minute I am drowning The view from up here is gorgeous But I cannot see any beauty All I see is an ocean of illusions In which greed makes life draggy Few people can realize That a smile is nothing more than teeth A hand-shake is nothing more than skin And on this ocean of illusions we keep going Because we need to feed our fears And give birth to more problems That should not exist. I wish I could be stronger I wish I could be brave I wish I could have wings to fly away But I am just a fish Swimming to survive Waiting for the moment to die.  less
