We took part of our rehearsal last night to honor Black History Month and celebrate The diversity of our Chorus. What better way to celebrate than with song. We chose "Oh Happy Day"' a late '60s gospel song with its roots from an 18th-century hymn.

The ensemble is currently formed by These singers: Jakub Kubín (countertenor), Martin Ptáček (tenor), Lukáš Merkl (tenor), Radek Mach (tenor), Aleš Malý (baritone), Martin Struna (baritone), Richard Uhlíř (bass), and Václav Kovář (bass). The repertoire of The ensemble includes The periods from The Gregorian chant up till arrangements of modern popular melodies while The most important part is formed by The vocal compositions of The 19th and 20th century, Czech, Moravian and Slovak folk songs and contemporary compositions which were often arranged or even composed directly for The Gentlemen Singers by composers with whom The ensemble cooperates closely (e.g. Jan Vičar, Jaroslav Krček, Jan Jirásek, Stephen Hatfield, or Mark van Platen). As a choir, The Consort has a wide repertoire, ranging from Early Church music through to Folksongs and modern works. Each programme is different and reflects The wishes of those for whom we perform. Since The Consort’s formation it has raised, through its choral concerts, many thousands of pounds for a wide range of charities and churches. It is always glad to consider invitations from such organisations. Its services are given voluntarily, although a contribution towards its music library and oTher expenses is gratefully received. We would love to come and sing to you and help you raise much needed funds for your cause. The group was set up to perform exciting vocal material at a variety of events, and to give men and women who love singing, The platform to get involved in a fun and sociable musical experience. The Voice Of The Town family has now grown and not only do we have our choir in Newcastle, but we now have choirs in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
