By participating in our choir program, youths not only develop new talents and improve Their cognitive abilities, but They also serve as mentors and positive role models for younger generations. Our unique approach promotes intergenerational collaboration and fosters a sense of community, ultimately leading to reduced youth unemployment rates and a decrease in crime rates. Concerts by The group feature a cappella music of Scandinavia and The Baltics, as well as North-American composers. Music by composers such as Mäntyjärvi, Daniel-Lesur, Rautavaara, Martin and Pärt are ideal showcases for The choir’s lush and full sound. Members of The group are dedicated to excellence in rehearsing and performing. With a repertoire consisting of 8 to 16-part music, The twenty singers are mostly performing as soloists. Now in its fifth season, voces boreales has already performed in a number of prestigious concert series, such as The National Arts Centre eXpres- sion series, Musique Chez Nous at Bishop's University, Mondial Choral Laval and The Montreal International Bach-Academy. The Ensemble voces boreales is produced by The Montreal Choral Institute and appears in its various educational events, such as The Montreal Choral Masterclass.  less

The group performs extensively throughout The Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of Vocal music majors, however, There are singers representing several oTher academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under The direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is The Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on The music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less
