There is a particular emphasis on the elusive magic of flying creatures, with bees, bats, ladybirds and crickets, featuring alongside birds of many feathers, including swans, cuckoos, crows, owls and magpies. Contemporary composer Kerry andrew’s Rhymes & Charms for Flyaway Things inspired the concert’s title. The piece was commissioned by Making Music after andrew won their prize at the 2010 British Composer Awards.
