Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The choir performs regularly in GLasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William WAlton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. The choir features regularly in Raymond GubBay’s Christmas Festival in the GLasgow Royal Concert Hall. Formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New GLasgow Singers, a small group of passionate Choral singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the Choral repertoire, it has grown into an organisation that has around 100 members singing a wide range of musical genres but still with the core wish to seek out and perform the less familiar pieces. We perform a regular series of Concerts each year: the details for the current season can be seen here. The range of music includes serious cLassical works, programmes of Choral cLassics, West End musical pieces and the lighter popular music included in our annual Christmas Cracker Concert. Our full repertoire can be seen in our list of past Concerts. Some notable Highlights have been WAlton’s Belshazzar’s FEast, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Grande Messe des Morts and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony - the Symphony of a Thousand.
