The fabulous amazing spectacular Carol Stenson is their long standing director. South Salem took FIRST PLACE at Oregon's State Competition. This was their second song of four. This whole competition took place at George Fox University in Newburg Oregon. The South Salem Saxons also took first at their Districts festival in Salem/Keizer Oregon. We are open to all singers with no auditions and previous experience of contemporary Music is not needed. We work mainly, though not exclusively, from Music, some of which is unconventionally notated. Most of our work is a capella and the focus is on ensemble singing. One objective is to expand the contemporary amateur Vocal repertoire, which is less developed than the instrumental repertoire. We work with composers and students, commissioning works and showcasing material for use by others.  less

Voice Weavers has open rehearsals on Thursday nights from 6:30pm QLD time at Tweed Heads Civic and Cultural Centre, cnr Wharf and Brett Sts Tweed Heads. This auditioned SATB Choir has a long history of performing high quality choral Music at various events including School concerts, community events, and National conferences and festivals. Last year after winning the St John’s group choral Rosebowl, this Choir won both the Provincial Music Festival and the National Music Festival of Canada. The Choir has been featured on local television and radio programs and even performed live in concert International Children performing icons- The Wiggles. New members are welcome and encouraged to attend three rehearsals before an informal voice appraisal.
