Harmonious Chorale Ghana - Joseph And His Brethren An Oratorio By George Frideric Handel.
Performed By The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana and Conducted By James Varrick Armaah - 2nd July, 2017
Now, before Act II begins, more biblical story needs to be inserted: After Joseph saves wisely during The seven years of plenty, The
famine begins. Because Egypt is now well positioned for food, people from afar come to purchase grain to replace Their own failing crops. Among These are Joseph's broThers, who do not recognize him (although he recognizes Them). He accuses Them of being spies and orders Them to leave one of Them, Simeon, here in jail while They go home and return with Their youngest broTher Benjamin (who did not come The first time). less

As The introduction states, Eric Whitacre's famous "Sleep" was originally composed to Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", but when Whitacre realized The Frost estate was not releasing permission for musical settings of The poem, Charles Silvestri wrote The poem "Sleep" around The music Whitacre had written. To honor The inspiration The poem gave Mr. Whitacre, and to furTher honor all poets who inspire choral composers, we presented this beloved piece with The original Frost lyrics. less
