Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, 7:30 PM The Chapel at Concordia University 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon, WI The Milwaukee Choral Artists, Sharon Hansen, conductor, joins The National LuTheran Choir (Minneapolis, Minnesota), David Cherwein, conductor, for this very special, collaborative performance. Paul Rudoi, winner of MCA's 2011 "Young Composer's Composition Competition" and member of Cantus (also based in Minneapolis), has written a special composition for The combined ensembles that will be premiered in Milwaukee, Then repeated in two performances when MCA travels to Minneapolis to perform with The National LuTheran Choir on Their All Saints' programs November 3 and 4, 2012. Concert group counts about 60 people, mainly students, academic teachers and friends outside college. Our repertoire has about 80 a capella works (from medieval to contemporary composers), large sacred forms by Haendel, Mozart and Mendellsohn Bartholdy and 40 carols. We have performed at several festivals and international events (Germany, France, Switzerland, Bulgaria). On its first attempt at competitions in 2007, The group won Second Runner-Up in The prestigious PAGCOR Chorale Festival and was chosen as one of The top five winners in The Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition. In December 2007, The Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at The Opening Ceremonies of The Amazing European Union Christmas held at The Podium, Ortigas and was one of The Choirs invited to grace The Sing For Me Project of The Department of Social Welfare and Development. In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of The winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale Fest, a Choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records.
