Founded in 1989 by Mr. Albert Morland to provide an opportunity for ex-members of the Wonderboom High School Choir to continue singing together after matriculating, it has since evolved to include members from a broader community that come from various backgrounds and professions (including law, accounting, nursing, teaching and IT) and are between 18 and 65 years of age.
The Choir has toured and performed across South Africa during the past 30 years and has an established reputation as a warm, friendly and “no-fuss” group with good choral sound who are just as comfortable performing at nursing homes and other charitable events as they are performing alongside the best Choirs in the world on International stages, for instance, at the 10th World Choir Games in 2018, where they took home a silver medal (79.5%) in the champion’s category for mixed adult Choirs.

[ Yele maoulo! ]
The conch shells are sounding,
The roosters haven’t crowed yet,
The sun hasn’t risen yet,
The workers are on their feet!
Ranpono has begun!
Laborers, let’s put our hands together,
Let’s join together,
The work has begun!
Little by little, the bird makes its nest.
My brothers, my sisters,
Join together, let’s move forward!
Heads together, in harmony,
We will come to see the navel of an ant.
With perseverance, we will see the navel of an ant.
The load that you bear on your head falls on your shoulders.
Little by little, the bird makes its nets.
[ Yele maoulo! ]
Wasting time is not part of the game.
We must work today to harvest tomorrow.
Work is over!
The sun is setting,
The workers are dismissed,
A job well done.
Ranpono brings life.
Truly indeed... less
