Executing this music with "sensitivity and style" (Early Music America), Schola Antiqua takes pride in providing the highest standards of research, performance, and education involving many under-served repertories in the western musical canon. Founded in 2000, the organization has received invitations to perform from the Indianapolis Early Music Festival, Chicago’s Newberry Library, the Chicago Cultural Center, the University of Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, the American Guild of Organists, and numerous locations across the Midwest. In 2006-2007, Schola Antiqua was Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Chicago and currents holds an artistic residency at the Lumen Christi Institute. This tradition caused another one: in the end of each choir's anniversary concert, all the former choristers being present among the audience come to the stage and sing these famous choruses together with the main part of the choir. The choir has a wide repertoire, ranging from folk to pop, with an emphasis on Finnish female choral music. However, the choir enthusiastically performs songs from all around the world. The choir performs in a wide range of events hosted by businesses and organisations. In the spring of 2015 the choir was performing for the first time abroad - in Finland. Summer 2017 choir was in Verona, Italy, taking a part of an international choir festival.  less
