The one hundred avid choral singers, all non-Music majors, come together into this vigorous and passionate auditioned Musical group. With all their bright talents, immense potential, remarkable adaptability, diligence and love towards choral Music, the singers delight in performing works from a wide range of choral repertoire, including canonic Western choral literatures, American folklore, spirituals and gospel, Music, Chinese art songs, Taiwanese folksongs, operatic choral numbers, Musical medleys, and commissioned works by Taiwan's own emerging talented composers. In 2010 it won the ATKV Animato Children's Choir Finals and the KKNK "Kanna" prize for best Musical production (2013.) During 2014 the SCCC won the "Musica Sacra" Open category of the World Choral Games, in Riga (2014) and all categories of the ATKV Animato Finals (2014), being awarded the prize of "Choir of the Competition." It has recorded eight cd's, one dvd; has toured Europe seven times and Talented choristers from several Schools in the Garden Route region of South Africa's Western Cape Province are auditioned and rehearse every Friday in the city of George, under the direction of conductor Jan-Erik Swart. They perform a repertoire of up to 50 pieces per year, and perform full-length concerts between 26-33 times per year. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the Music of all kinds of different styles, how to sin...  moreOur society is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing. We have a great Musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the Music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The Choir works with Musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read Music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter Music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all Choirs however we need more singers to keep the Choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move. By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning statements in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular Music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque Musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic Music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff.
