The Choirs are famous in Kingston and beyond for joyful concerts full of non-traditional staging, diverse repertoire and singing demonstrating great skill and enthusiasm. Cantabile now includes six Choirs and over 250 voices, performing music which engages and entertains at every event. From the beginning, Cantabile has provided musical education for choristers and audiences through this high standard of performance and quality choral literature. Cantabile’s choral season of five themed concerts, which often include invited guests of national and international acclaim, attracts a sell-out audience in our performance home, Sydenham Street United Church, Kingston, Ontario Canada.  less

This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militaristic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a list of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are mistress, master, priest, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, Christians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecstatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. He fuses percussive lyrics, energetic rhythms and sometimes almost drunken modulations to capture this raucous mood.  less

Being one of the most popular and sought after groups in Israel, "The Ensemble" has had innumerable performances of every sort and has participated in various festivals (including "Abu Ghosh" and "Festival Arad"), competitions (winners of "Shirat HaAretz 2001" and gold diploma recipients at "Sulam Mila 2002, 2004, 2006), official Israeli national and municipal events as well as a long list of private productions. Their repertoire leaning is towards “pop” (songs by the Beatles, Sting, Queen, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin…), Israeli oldies and modern Hebrew “classics” which contain that "special something": On this list can be found songs by Shalom Hanoch, Yoni Rechter, Daniel Salomon, Yonathan Razel, and Yaruslav Yakobovitch. Members enjoy the opportunity to rehearse & perform under the professional tutelage of its Choirmaster...  moreThe Prime Note Ensemble has established itself as the first Filipino a cappella Choir from Saudi Arabia, founded by Medard U. Obida in October 2001. Members enjoy the opportunity to rehearse & perform under the professional tutelage of its Choirmaster and resident arranger Novem G. Cabios. The Choir has already competed in two World Choir Games, one in China in 2006 and the other in Austria in 208, where it won bronze & silver medals in the male chamber Choir category. The group has traveled to Nancy, France on invitation, in one of France’s major choral festival, the 14th Festival International Chant de Choral held in May 2007. On tour in Europe, the Choir performed to much acclaim in France, Belgium and Austria. Prime Note participated in the 2nd California Choral Festival & Competition in June 2009 in San Luis Obispo and continues to have a series of performances in and around Southern California, which the group now calls home.  less

Our repertoire is diverse, and we are open to all church members and also to anyone who is friendly to the church. No special requirements. We are stretching ourselves to be better music readers and vocal technicians, and also to be able to learn music by ear, memorize simpler songs quickly, and be free in our bodies while singing.
