The flow'rs themselves discover, Birds over her do hover, Music the time beguileth, See where she comes, with flow'ry garlands crowned, Queen of all queens reknowned. Then sang the shepherds and nymphs of Diana, "Long live fair Oriana!"

The words are set to the melody of the Scottish Minstrel "Common' Frae The Toun". (This is a variant of the tune to which Auld Lang Syne is usually sung—the melodic shape is almost identical, the difference lying in the tempo and rhythm.) The text for the piece was written by Bartholomew Begley, a Dublin-based philosophy lecturer who works on philosophical translations of early modern Latin texts. The text 'Deus Ex Machina' tells the story of a suddenly and unexpectedly found God 'out of a machine.' The setting of the choir was very experimental – the aim was to take full advantage of the possibilities offered by the spatial, immersive sound. The choir sections were spread horizontally and vertically; therefore, the entire space around the listener was arranged. The visuals indicate the positions of the choir by points of light, whose brightness and movement were devised based on the sound energy of each of the choral sections.  less

World Champions (Scenic Folklore - WCG2012). The premier performance ensemble of Kearsney College, a leading independent high school for boys in South Africa. Winners of 10 Gold Medals (incl 3 World Champion Titles) at the World choir Games 2000-2012. Boys join the choir as an extra-curricular activity, amid academic, sporting and other cultural activities. Approx. 40 performances per year, including national/international tours.  less
