Chris has written many of Show Of Hands’ big hits including, ‘Lily and the Rose’ which he wrote for Miranda Sykes and The Lost Sound. We’ve performed this together with Show Of Hands, at their 25thAnniversary concert in The Royal Albert Hall in 2017. Chris explains the background of ‘Though We Lie Underground’ for us: I first came across the stories surrounding the curious tradition of West Country miners singing carols underground when listening to a recording of Alan Lomax’s extraordinary live BBC 1957 broadcast “Sing Christmas and the Turn of the Year”, a feat of radio genius involving hundreds of performers and groups all over the country, seamlessly brought together for one scintillating hour. Originating from a Leicestershire yout...  moreThe Chanterelles performing My Love Dwelt in a Northern Land by Edward Elgar at the 2012 Llangollen International Eisteddfod. Conducted by Dr Shirley Court. The Chanterelles is a ladies Choir from all over the UK. Originating from a Leicestershire youth Choir and reforming as an adult Choir in February 2009, members now come together to perform about five times each year. Having tasted success as a Youth Choir in Llangollen in 1998, the Choir returned in their new guise as a Female Choir In July 2010, winning their section and taking their place in the Choir of the World competition. This success was followed by concerts in Macclesfield and Birmingham and a win at the North Wales Choral Festival in November 2011. In 2012, the Choir competed in the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition at the Cork Choral Festival and won 2nd prize in this year's International Eisteddfod in Llangollen.
