The Choir continues the tradition of the Akademski pevski zbor v Ljubljani (Academic Choir of the University of Ljubljana) founded in 1926 by France Marolt, which consisted of male singers only. In the years between 1938 and 1940 Marolt also conducted the Female Academic Choir. After the cultural silence held during the Second World War, the Choir recommenced its activity, this time as a mixed Choir under a new name, Akademski pevski zbor Tone Tomšič. Rehearsing at Akcan Akademi under conductor Özgen Öz, the Choir is an active member of Koro Kültürü Derneği (the Choral Culture Association). Since its founding, FeminAnka has been invited to numerous Festivals and has been honoured with several awards. Having shared the stage with Türkiye’s leading Choirs, the Choir continues to strengthen the place of the female voice in polyphonic Music — with a repertoire spanning polyphonic arrangements of folk songs, contemporary works, sacred Music and pop. We keep working with the same enthusiasm as on day one, driven by the wish to resonate alongside Musicians devoted to polyphonic Music in different countries, cities and concert halls.  less
