Musically educated in the classical tradition, he began teaching at 12 and writing at age 16. He reached the rank of Master of the Royal Chapel (most important post for a musician in Brazil Cologne) appointed by King John IV and conducted the first performances of Mozart’s "Requiem" and Haydn’s "Creation" in Brazil. The title is drawn from John 6:36, Misericordes sicut Pater (English: Be Merciful, As YOur Father Is). Inwood's composition was the winner in an international competition sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization.
