The work is a melancholic love song that is based on a folk like melody underlined by a constant pedal point, resembling the sound of bagpipes.

In keeping with our belief that diversity is strength, we are feminist women of varied ages, races, and ethnicities with a range of musical abilities, political interests, and life experiences. We are women loving women; we are heterosexual, lesbian and bisexual women united in song. We commission and seek out music composed by women, pieces written to enhance the sound of women's voices, and songs that honor the enduring spirit of all peoples. In performing, we strive for a concert experience that entertains, inspires, motivates, heals, and creates a feeling of community with our audience.  less

When Odwa Mvunge return to his birth community in 2012, after completing his music education studies at Nelson Mandela University, not much has changed. There still was no place in Zolani for the youth to express themselves in cultural activities that was not offered at school nor in the community. After school the youth would loiter around without direction. This lead to the formation of the Zolani Youth choir. The basic idea and purpose of the choir is to equip youth of our community with basic music skills. The choir consists of 25 scholars from different schools who are between the ages of 12 and 26 years. These scholars have no professional training or background in formal music, but have proven to have a passion and love for the art. Our first priority is for the choir to become a trademark attraction which will represent Ashton far beyond the region’s borders. The main objective of the Cho...    less

Osanna clamabunt in excelsis. Cumque audisset populus quod Jesus venient Hierusalem, exierunt obviam ei. Cum palmis palmarum. Osanna clamabunt in excelsis. Harpsichordist, organist and visionary choirmaster George Malcolm was one of the leading figures in British music after the Second World War. In his early life he had been Organ Scholar of Balliol College and choirmaster of St Mary’s, Clapham. His work at Westminster Cathedral as Master of Music for twelve years from 1947 was the stuff of legend. He carried on the great traditions he had learnt in his youth from the Jesuit Father Driscoll and Fernand Laloux, choirmaster of Farm Street Jesuit Church in Mayfair and developed a wholly different approach to the singing of children that proved vastly influential both in his own lifetime and in the twenty years sin...    less
