Some youth Beatwaves interviewed disclosed that they preferred music that would make them dance and that choral music sometimes was boring. Nonetheless, there is a group of youth who have come together to form a Choir which has made a mark both at home and abroad. The Winneba Youth Choir, known to be the number one choral music group in the country was founded in May 1989, under the patronage of Mr. George Mensah-Essilfie and Mr. John Francis Arthur-Yamoah (Paa John). The Choir has progressed steadily to the extent that it is now recognized as the most outstanding youth Choir of the nation. In March 1998 the Choir was incorporated and regist¬ered as a non-profit making association, with the objective of providing a platform for the education and development of the youth in Winneba and surrounding towns through the medium of singing. St Stephen’s has a strong musical tradition with two choral services each Sunday throughout the year (except August when the Choir has a well deserved break – but usually sing elsewhere for a number of days). Music is sung from across the centuries, ranging from plainsong dating back hundreds of years right through to contemporary works by composers such as John Tavener and Arvo Pärt, including works written especially for us.  less

The Seagrave Singers are an award winning all-feMale Choir. It is our aim to bring enjoyment to others and ourselves by delivering a high quality performance. We present our own concerts bi-annually and organise concerts to assist with fundraising.

An international, nondenominational Choir with specialization in sacred classical works and other soul inspiring music which cut across diverse denominations and cultures. We sing in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and many other local African languages.

Yet to truly understand and love one ano...  morePROGRAM NOTES: With the growing hate and division in our world, love must prevail. Too often today, it can feel easier to unfriend, unfollow, or simply part ways with others when they seem unworthy of our effort. Yet to truly understand and love one another requires fierce determination. It demands listening with openness rather than tuning out in order to respond defensively. It asks us to compromise—even when that means agreeing to disagree. Ultimately, all of this is only possible if we choose to live with the will to love. Musically, I sought to capture both determination and collective unity through texture and rhythmic drive. The use of canonic writing on the text “I sing” symbolizes individual voices rising together toward a shared purpose. Likewise, the primary rhythmic motive in the secondo piano part reflects the persistence and passion of the human heart—the unyielding fire that propels us forward through hardship. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.
