The Honolulu Chorale, established in 1966, is one of the oldest non-audition community choruses in the State of Hawaii. It's members represent the multi-ethnicity of Hawaii's population and include singers of Asian, Pacific, European and American backgrou...  moreThe Honolulu Chorale, established in 1966, is one of the oldest non-audition community choruses in the State of Hawaii. It's members represent the multi-ethnicity of Hawaii's population and include singers of Asian, Pacific, European and American backgrounds. Singers from all walks of life, ranging in age from teens to octogenarians make up the membership of the group. The Chorale presents two major concerts each year, in addition to sponsoring a Community Chorus Festival and performing at care facilities and retirement homes. In past years they toured Hawaii's neighboring Islands, Europe, Japan and China and are planning a trip to Ireland in the future. Membership in the Chorale is open to adult singers of the Oahu community.  less

Our program has grown to 3 vocal jazz ensembles. The music we perform represents a crossover of the jazz and popular music idioms. The students in the KCKCC VJ program learn Jazz Education through a variety of methods. First of all, each of these students take private vocal jazz coachings weekly. They also perform music by professional vocal ensembles, arrangements by well-known vocal jazz educators, and learn jazz and popular music standards (both through the ensemble and in private coachings).  less
