Our mission as an ensemble is to connect with the Community and each other through the exploration of quality choral music, including the promotion of women composers, within an engaging, encouraging, and intergenerational environment focused on healthy vocal technique and artistic excellence. The University Chorale is the touring ensemble for the choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of the finest choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout the Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, there are singers representing several other academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under the direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is the Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on the music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less
