From 1997 to The end of 2000 The Prefecture of Thessaloniki had The Choir under its auspices and supported it morally and materially. However oTher bodies of The city helped it as well like : The Ministry of Culture, of National Defense, of Foreign Affairs, The Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, The Greek Committee of UNESCO, private educational institutions, well known businessmen active in town and Press organizations. It has also developed partnerships with communities of Greeks abroad, The International Foundation “Mikis Theodorakis” based in Stockholm, The Union of Cypriots in North Greece, The clubs of Imvrians and Asia minor, The Federation of Pontian Associations, The Labor Center of Thessaloniki, The Medical Association of Thessaloniki, The NorThern Greece Association...    less

Was found by its Artistic Director in 1992. Consists of 5 departments: Preparatory Choir, children Choir, Youth female Choir, mixed Youth Choir, female vocal ensemble

The Choir varies in size from year to years averaging 80+ singers per year.  

The Drake Choir is Drake University’s select touring ensemble, performing regionally on an annual basis and internationally every four years, most recently in May 2012. It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, The Czech Republic, Wales...  moreThe Drake Choir is Drake University’s select touring ensemble, performing regionally on an annual basis and internationally every four years, most recently in May 2012. It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, The Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. The ensemble regularly collaborates with The Des Moines Symphony and sang The Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. The Drake Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on The conference program of The American Choral Directors Association North Central Division. The ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are first-year students through seniors and who represent every College of The University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during The weekend preceding The start of The fall semester. The ensemble rehearses Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. and is conducted by Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Condcuting.  less
