For 15 years, the Golden Voices of Montserrat festival has been more than just a competition. It is a celebration of harmony, culture, and unity — a gathering of choirs from across the globe who share a passion for singing.

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a Project in which he joined the choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his setting of the Ubi Caritas text -- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the Project was entitled "In the Moment".  less

Psalms 39:24 The year started with bright hope for a promising great year, yet the treat of a deadly virus lingered in our ears. In February, COVID caused some concern in America as people were being warned of the implications the virus could bring when it came from overseas. By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as the virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from the shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting this treat would be possible. Throughout the country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as they self-quarantined and socially distanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against the upcoming pandemic.
