Over the years, the choir’s repertoire has included performances of: Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, The Requiems of Brahms and Mozart, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and others. Since forming in November of 2010, The Marion Consort have performed in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Arlington Heights. This past August, they had the privilege of performing at the Chicago Cultural Center as part of the Classical Music Mondays series. Their mission is to present performances for various audiences with music by well known composers, while also exploring the works of lesser known composers. They have been auditioned and selected from a program of 250 singers and identified as the cream of the crop based on their beauty of vocal tone, musical intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, they are students who are DEDICATED to being the best they can be. As a result of these high standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around the nation as one of the elite high School level performing ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at the Missouri Music Educators Convention.
