The Choir was founded in 1982 by José Firmino, actually is led by conductor and composer Paulo Bernardino (1973). The Choir participates each year in about two dozens of concerts, in Portugal and abroad.  

The Rías Baixas Choir was presented in Vigo in January 2014 with the purpose of replacing the lack of choral formations that could collaborate with orchestras and chamber groups in Galicia (NW Spain). His initial claim was also to promote new soloists a...  more The Rías Baixas Choir was presented in Vigo in January 2014 with the purpose of replacing the lack of choral formations that could collaborate with orchestras and chamber groups in Galicia (NW Spain). His initial claim was also to promote new soloists and serve as a tool for new and established composers specially from the Rias Baixas area. The Choir already has more than sixty performances, both self-managed and scheduled in various cycles or festivals such as Outono Lírico, Vigo Sinfónico, Barcia de Mera Religious Music Series, Nas Ondas, Portico Sonoro, Explurart, Cooltural Cambados and II Festival Groba. In these performances they have interpreted several fundamental works of the choral repertoire in all kind of stages of the four Galician provinces, both a capella and with instrumental accompaniment. Performance by the Mansfield University Concert Choir conducted by Peggy Dettwiler at the 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. They won a gold medal and third place in the Mixed Youth Choir Category.

Over the years, the Choir has been led by many talented co...  moreRSU Choir Rīga was established in 1951 and for almost 20 years (1967-1986) its conductor was the accomplished professor Jānis Dūmiņš. In 1968, the Choir was awarded the status of a National Choir. Over the years, the Choir has been led by many talented conductors, e.g. Centis Kriķis, Kārlis Beinerts, Edvīns and Inga Dziļums, Ints Teterovskis, etc. Today the conductors of the Choir are Evita Taranda and Zane Zilberte; Choir master is Roberts Hansons. The repertoire of the Choir varies, as performances include all sorts of music from the time of renaissance to modern music or music written by contemporary artists, e.g. Paul McCartney's oratorio "Ecce Cor Meum" or Czech composer Petr Eben's music "De Circuito Aeterno". The Choir has performed in many countries and it has received many awards and international recognition in international competitions.
