Sin...  moreWhen Fred Reinagel founded The Vail Chorale in 2011, his goal was simple: to create a non-auditioned community chorus that would provide an opportunity for choral music-making on Tucson’s east side, welcoming singers of all ages and musical skills. Since its inception, The Vail Chorale has been entertaining local audiences with Fall and Spring concerts that feature musical styles for every taste. Performances have taken place at various locations including Empire and Cienega High Schools, the Arizona Senior Academy, and the Del Webb Lodge at Rancho del Lago. Chorale members have included high school students as well as adults of all ages, who have found that the intergenerational experience has added to the fun of singing together. Concert attendees have remarked at the obvious enjoyment and enthusiasm that comes across to the audience. The Vail Chorale is directed by Fred Reinagel, the Chorale’s founder. "Songs for Braithwaite" was inspired by some of the poems of William Stanley Braithwaite. A two minute commentary (at 7:45 of the video) by the composer follows the performance of the two pieces. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his composition "Northern Lights"-- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment". The other composition to which he created an improvised accompaniment was "Ubi Caritas". He also accompanied the Choir on "The Ground", which includes CWU's resident faculty quartet -- the Kairos String Quartet.
