"I wandered lonely as a cloud" is a setting by composer Elani Willemse, of the poem of the same title by William Wordsworth, telling of the poet's melancholic experience of loneliness within his daily existance and how this melancholy is briefly relieved ...  more"I wandered lonely as a cloud" is a setting by composer Elani Willemse, of the poem of the same title by William Wordsworth, telling of the poet's melancholic experience of loneliness within his daily existance and how this melancholy is briefly relieved upon encountering a vast and beautiful field of daffodils. The melody paints the landscape, written in a minor key, which is then resolved to the major when his sadness finds resolution in this beauty that he experienced. Synaesthesia is incorporated by using specific harmonies and rhythmic patterns to imitate what the composer might imagine the poet saw, and the emotions he felt. This ultimately transforming the piece into a choral musical painting.  less

It also performs regularly at the Jeunesse (Musikalische Jugend Österreichs) concert series in Vienna and has formed a special partnership with this institution. We perform for many organizations in and around the Western Pennsylvania area. Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions are necessary. We also sing in a yearly competition called Saengerfest held in June each year. Members chorus' are: Altoona, Williamsport, Reading, Lebanon and Mon Yough. Each chorus hosts the competition on a rotating basis. Rehearsals are held each Sunday at Sampsons MIlls Presbyterian Church at 1665 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA 15131 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Mon Yough Chorale was formerly known as the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Mon Yough Chorale has a long history in the Mon Valley. The organization started as The McKeesport Choraliers in 1962 merging with the White Oak Community Singers in 2001 becoming the Mon Yough Community Singers.
