His love is a gift to you
Your Son came to us
And he showed us how to love
He taught us to care for each other
To love people everywhere
He gave his life so that we all could live
Sing praise to the Son of God
Give us the power of your love
Let us serve you Lord our God
Give us your strength and your wisdom
To be disciples for all time
Let us not forget your teaching
Give love in the name of the Lord

I contacted Bill Sveglini through the "Composers’ forum" and he was very interested in my multivocal efforts. So I decided to have a go at performing some of his works. They are in a style that I’ve not sung for over 20 years (evangelical church choir), but the old fervour still comes out in the performance: I was transported back to those good old days as I sang. This piece i... less

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a Project in which he joined the choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his composition "Northern Lights"-- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the Project was entitled "In the Moment".
The other composition to which he created an improvised accompaniment was "Ubi Caritas". He also accompanied the choir on "The Ground", which includes CWU's resident faculty quartet -- the Kairos String Quartet.

By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as the virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from the shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting this treat would be possible. Throughout the country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as they self-quarantined and socially distanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against the upcoming pandemic.
During quarantine, some people started riots for an unrelated cause, Black Lives Matter. This movement has an ongoing struggle in our nation as the group battles f... less
