We're planning to perform and record a programme of modern sacred music in the fabulous space and acoustic that is Leeds' Victoria Quarter. We are appealing to as many people as possible to participate in the Project by giving whatever they would like, in return for a reward or perk. It's quite a good way of pre-ordering the CD! please visit link: http://igg.me/at/stpeterssingers
"Bring us, O Lord God, at our last awakening, into the house and gate of heaven, to enter into that gate and dwell in that house, where there shall be no darkness nor dazzling, but one equal light; no noise nor silence but one equal music; no fears nor hopes but one equal possession; no ends nor beginnings but one equal eternity; in the habitations of thy Glory and Dominion, world without end. Amen."
John Donne (1572-1631)

Impromptu appearances during shopping hours will be followed by a live concert at 8.00pm on Sunday July 6.
However, we also hope to raise sufficient funds to record this so that it can become more widely available, and are appealing to as many people as possible to participate in the Project by giving whatever they would like, in return for a reward or perk. It's quite a good way of pre-ordering the CD !

Lojze Lebič (1934): Fauvel ’86
Excerpts from the work Roman de Fauvel (1310 – 1314)
Fortuna Won’t Be Fauvel’s Match! is based on a gothic allegorical verse romance in which the central metaphor for moral decay and decadence is an ambitious horse/ass. The main character – Fauvel – is an incarnation of sin, irrationality, unreliability, dominance, flattery. Fortuna Won’t Be Fauvel’s Match! mocks human egotism, hedonism, hypocrisy and excesses of the governing classes, of secular as well as church rule, a society contaminated by sin and corruption. The ruling class is despotic and greedy, forgetting about the natural equality of people. Man through politics/the church is a symbol of everything that is wrong with our society and the system which administers it. Thi... less
