We sing in the a cappella style from a diverse repertoire of easily accessible music. We provide learning tracks for all our songs so you don’t need to able to read music to sing with Voice Weavers. Voice Weavers has open rehearsals on Thursday nights from 6:30pm QLD time at Tweed Heads Civic and Cultural Centre, cnr Wharf and Brett Sts Tweed Heads. Why not visit and have a sing with us or just listen to the Choir work its magic? Belle Canto was the first Choir formed in the Cantilon family and remains its only adult ensemble. In touring and recording, Belle Canto has distinguished itself as one of today’s foremost women’s ensembles. Originally a group of university students, the Choir now consists of amateur singers from all walks of life. Belle Canto particularly enjoys exploring the contemporary repertoire of Eastern Europe and Scandinavia and has recorded much of this repertoire on their disc, Invocation.  less

A joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sámi people (or Lapps - region stretches over four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia). This type of song can be deeply personal or spiritual in nature, often dedicated to a human being, an animal, or a landscape as a personal signature. According to music researchers, joik is one of the longest living music traditions in Europe, and is the folk music of the Sámi people. Its sound is comparable to the traditional chanting of some Native American cultures. Sponsored positions are available so don’t let money be a barrier. We meet every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm during school terms at the CWA Hall, 20 West Market St, Richmond, NSW. One of our members Pammy says: ‘It’s funny - most of us think we can’t sing but somehow together, we sound amazing!’ She’s right! So come along and join in the fun - it’s always a great time of singing our hearts out, laughing our socks off and meeting friends old and new.  less
